Formally defined in Policy 145 (as of 19 March 2014).

1. If the missed midterm was worth more than 30%, a make-up test must be held for those students who missed it for valid reasons.
2. If the missed midterm was not worth more than 30%, the student and instructor may agree (in writing) to distribute the grades across other course work (usually the final exam). The student must agree to this- we cannot force them to accept. If the student does not want to do this, a make-up exam must be given. Note that after redistribution, no single component of the course may exceed 70%.
3. If a student misses a make-up test for valid reasons, the grades may be distributed across other course work, even if this makes other course work worth more than 70%. This is up to the instructor, who still has the option of giving a make-up for the missed make-up. The student has no say in this decision.
4. If a student misses a scheduled make-up without a valid reason, a grade of 0 may be assigned.

The above points apply to all students, even those registered with the Access Centre.
